Feather River Arts Academy at Grizzly Creek Ranch
The Feather River Community Partnership, in collaboration with Sierra Health Foundation's Grizzly Creek Ranch, is pleased to offer an exciting new program: "The Summer 2007 Feather River Arts Academy". Don’t miss out on this opportunity to participate in a variety of visual and performing arts sessions with fun, creative, and supervised activities through the professional instruction of local community artists and educators. Participants will also enjoy daily recreational activities such as lawn games, basketball, hiking and swimming.

SESSION 1: JR. COUNSELOR PROGRAM (Grades 7 - 10)
June 25 - 29, 2007
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Mon. - Wed.)
9:00 a.m., Thurs., to 12:00 p.m., Fri. (overnight session)
Become a peer mentor for other youth. Learn communication skills, leadership development, conflict resolution, team building and instruction in visual arts, music rhythm, and dance and performing arts/drama education.; Jr. Counselors who successfully complete this training program will receive a certificate, and community service credit. Jr. Counselors, who work for 1 additional session, will earn $100 back.
SESSION 2: MUSIC, RHYTHM and DANCE (Grades 1 - 6)
July 23 - 27, 2007 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Mon. - Fri.)
Experience a variety of percussion instruments and create your own percussion hand drum! Learn different world rhythms with instruction and performances in Salsa, Samba, African, Native American, Middle Eastern and Contra dances. The session will end with a drum/percussion circle and dance celebration.
SESSION 3: VISUAL ARTS (Grades 1 - 6)
July 30 - Aug. 3, 2007 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Mon. - Fri.)
Experience a variety of visual arts mediums such as, drawing, collage, watercolor, acrylics, pottery and photography. Students will learn how to mat and frame their artwork for presentation. Selected artwork from all students will be showcased at the Feather River Arts Center Gallery where they will have the opportunity to sell their work.
SESSION 4: PERFORMING ARTS / DRAMA (Grades 1 - 6)
August 13 - 17, 2007 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Mon. - Fri.)
Youth will be instructed in a variety of performing arts and drama including, acting, character development, costumes, and play development. Students will enjoy other performing arts such as juggling, singing and dancing. The session will end with a variety of short skits and plays presented on the final evening.
The total cost of each Arts Academy session is only $135.00 per youth. This includes professional art instruction, all art supplies, snacks, lunch, and T-shirt. Scholarships are available for qualifying families. Registration not confirmed until health history and registration fees are received. Registrations will be accepted beginning May 7, 2007. Deadlines vary according to session. Register early, limited space available! Minimum-maximum enrollment for each session will be 15 - 30 youth, except for the Jr. Counselor Session 1 where minimum enrollment will be 12 youth.
